Abstract

This deliverable provides the progress made between Del 1.3 [1] and the final specification of BPEL for Semantic Web Services (BPEL4SWS) [2]. BPEL4SWS is comprised of a set of specifications that in combination facilitate the orchestration of both, Web Services and semantic Web Services. It uses an extension of BPEL that provides for an interaction model that is independent of WSDL [3], semantic Web Service description frameworks like OWL-S [4] and WSMO [5] to specify the capabilities the process provides and the capabilities a process requires from its partners. Additionally it defines a grounding format to enable Web Service based communication with partner (semantic) Web Services.
